Denise Marie Long was born on December 17, 1966 in Boulder, Colorado to Howard Charles and Carolyn Marie (Fox) Atkinson. She passed away peacefully in her home in Northglenn, CO May 29,, 2019 after battling breast cancer. She grew up in the Boulder area and graduated from Boulder High School in 1985. She attended Front Range Community College in which she received her Associates Degree in accounting with emphasis in retail marketing in 1991. She married Linn Lary Long II on June 1, 1991 and divorced in 2010. She was the Cookie Mom for her children’s Girl Scout Troop for many years, as well as the assistant coach for her children’s softball teams. Denise had a heart of gold she loved helping others and getting involved in community and school activities. When she wasn’t helping others she could be found at the casinos in Blackhawk, CO where she was well known. She worked for King Soopers, Frontier Airlines and Southwest Airlines in Denver.
She is survived by her parents of Longmont, CO; her children, Courtney Linn Zarnes and her husband Daniel of Frederick, CO; Natalie Marie Long and her husband Nate of Englewood, CO; Whitney Leigh Long and Lary Tyler Long of Black Forest, CO; two grandchildren, Morgan Ryleigh Long and Axel Gauge Long of Englewood, CO; a brother, Howard Dewayne Atkinson, and his wife Joanie of Mooresville, IN; two sisters, Dawna Jeane Schneider, and her husband Tim of Thornton, CO; and Carolyn Dyann DeFalco, and her husband Mike of Windsor, CO.
She also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends
