Clyde Edward Carper, Sr., 94, passed away peacefully on April 4, 2018. He is survived by his loving daughters, Clydette and Clydeane; and loving grandchildren, Clyde, III, Alena, Louie, Jamison, Alicia, Felicia, Larry, Jr., Vincent, Jeremy, Chase and Katie; along with numerous loving great grandchildren and extended family and friends.
Clyde was born in Topeka, Kansas and at the age of 19 he enlisted in the U.S. Navy to serve our country during WWII. After being honorably discharged, Clyde returned home and focused on playing his saxophone and became a member of a band. Members of the band often referred to Clyde as “Click”. Later, Clyde launched his career with Goodyear where he remained until his retirement in May 1986. Clyde spent most of his life in Topeka, Kansas and later moved to settle in Colorado. Clyde was a very loving father, grandfather and great grandfather who enjoyed watching sports, reading and always retained his love for music, especially jazz. He will be greatly missed by all those who knew him.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, May 11, 2018 at 11:15 a.m. at Olinger Highland Mortuary, 10201 Grant Street, Thornton, Colorado 80229, followed by a Committal Service at Fort Logan National Cemetery, 3698 South Sheridan Boulevard, Staging Area “C”, Denver, Colorado 80236 at 1:15 p.m. where he will be laid to rest with military honors. Following the Committal Service there will be a reception, (location to be announced at the memorial service).
