Born in Denver to Samuel Jose Herrera and Rafelita (Gonzales) Herrera. Married in Denver to Alice Loretta (Vigil) Herrera on April 22, 1950. Chuck graduated from Denver West High School in 1950. Later he attended Arapahoe Community College for upholstery classes and Red Rocks Community College for wood working classes.Chuck was employed by Gates Rubber Company for 38 years, starting as a factory worker and retiring as a supervisor.
Moving to Englewood, from Denver, in 1959, he resided in the same house for 65 years. Chuck loved to visit with and spend time with friends and his large extended family. He also made custom furniture, reupholstered furniture, and did extensive home renovations. He had a large garden for many years, loved music and played the guitar and piano. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved hunting and fishing. He owned land in South Park and built a two story cabin with the help of family and friends. Chuck was very artistic. He drew, painted, carved and was an avid photographer. Chuck was very social and never met a stranger.
Chuck was married to Alice Herrera for 74 years. He was the father of Jerry (Kat) Herrera, Steve (Marian) Herrera and Kathy (Mike) Eubank. Chuck had five grandsons, one great granddaughter and three great grandsons. Chucks siblings were Noreen, Annie, Martha, Vera and Mike (Roger). He had numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Chuck was preceded in death by Annie, Noreen, Martha and grandson Air Force Major Marc Herrera.
A funeral service for Charles will be held Wednesday, December 4, 2024 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Olinger Highland Mortuary & Cemetery, 10201 Grant St, Thornton, CO 80229, followed by a graveside service from 2:00 PM to 2:30 PM.
