Carol Jean Proffitt passed away on April 1, 2024. She was born in Denver, Colorado on October 13, 1943, and is preceded in death by her parents - Gerald and Dorothy Sutton, and her sister Virginia Hurd.
Carol married Dale Proffitt and the two of them made a loving home. Their door was always open to all and many tables were set for friends and family throughout the years. Many joys, sorrows, laughs and tears, were shared together.
She was a homemaker who worked various exciting jobs throughout her lifetime to help support and nourish her husband and children. Carol was a craftsman and seamstress/sewer, who could accomplish any project she committed herself too. For the last thirty-three years, Carol lived in the home she built with the help of friends and family.
Carol received her GED before her oldest graduated High School.
She loved her church families – Our Savior of Commerce City, Holy Cross of Glenwood, and Grace Fellowship of Gypsum. She ran VBS programs, made costumes, taught catechism, held youth groups for teens approaching adulthood, along with many other activities and projects.
Carol is survived by her two daughters – Pamela and Tyrene, her son – Damien, and her son-in-law Brian.
She has three grandsons – Jesse, James, and Max, and three granddaughters – Anissa, Ashley, and Jaelyn. She has four fabulous greats – Alex, Rhett, Jackson, and Arlo and her granddaughter in-law Christy.
She had five nephews who were always a part of her heart, David, Ron, Gene, Scott, and Danny.
Carol enjoyed visits with Audrey when they shared a coffee, smoked a cigarette and had chit-chat. On her trips to see Audrey, she liked to catch up with her sisters-in-law, Peggy, Barbara, Ronni, and their kiddos. Many of the trips to Kansas and Missouri paved a way for a visit to the Farm and all the families there, that Carol loved to visit and catch up with.
Her neighbors include Walt and Jan, who were lifetime friends, (Jan and Carol met in grade school along with Jan’s sister Judi/Ant), their daughter Judy and her husband Randy, and their son Michael and his wife Gina. Her other neighbors, Dave, Marie, Ben, Derrald, Sandy, Donna, Richard and Laura were also helpful in making sure to check in with her and were amazing in helping Carol live out her last days in her home, excluding the very last week.
