Antonio (Tony) R. Reyes, 84, was born in Lynn, Colorado, on April 25, 1936. He was the 4th child born to Benito Reyes & Irene Nuanes- in total they were a family of 7 children to include 4 brothers and 3 sisters. Tony is survived by his wife, Julia, son Reuben Reyes (Velma), daughters Annette Reyes-Ferrell (Duane) and Yolanda Reyes, brothers Florencio Reyes (Linda), Zeke Reyes (Wendy) and sister Lucy Rayos; four grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, in-laws and friends.
Tony and Julia met in Aguilar, Colorado, and were married 63 years. They moved to Denver and ultimately settled in the Barnum neighborhood in west Denver. During his lifetime, Tony worked various jobs to include the Gould Battery factory, and finally retired in 1999-2000 from Cobe Laboratories where he was employed as a warehouseman for 25 years. He and Julia had many friends and attended many weddings & gatherings together throughout their years. One of his greatest loves was fishing; he would take day trips with friends, grandchildren, or by himself and fish for hours. Tony was never idle; he was always busy tending to the lawn, working around the house. On Sunday mornings, he enjoyed hours of Mexican music as he would eat breakfast and read the newspaper.
Tony was a very generous, giving man. There was never a time where he wouldn’t do for someone, especially his family. He was a family matriarch, a wonderful provider and was as patient of a man that ever lived. There was not a person who met him that did not like him and wherever he went, people were drawn to him for his humor, soft heart, gentleness, and his handsome smile. To Tony, his family was precious, but even more prized was his beloved wife, Julia, whom he treasured up until the very last moment.
Tony loved his Lord & Savior, Jesus Christ and was devoted to his faith. He was a man of prayer and ran his race and fought his fight with Jesus in his heart ‘til the very end. Although his passing leaves holes in our hearts, he is wholly present with his Lord in Glory and for that we have reason to Rejoice. With all our love, ‘til we meet again…..
