Andrew Hudak was born April 8, 1921, in Denver, Colorado where he and his three siblings were raised. He graduated from North High School in 1940.
In 1942 he joined the Marine Corp and served in the South Pacific during World War II.
He married Mildred Vernelle Urling in June of 1945. They were married over 50 years. Together they raised two daughters, Debra and Pamela, first in Westminster, then Lafayette.
Andy was a hard worker all his life, finally retiring in his late eighties. He lived life to the fullest, was always the life of the party and would often announce his arrival by yodeling. He never met a stranger and loved sharing his favorite jokes with everyone.
He loved spending time with his family and enjoyed fishing, bowling, gardening and painting. He liked all sports, but the Colorado Rockies were his favorite. A highlight for him was meeting Todd Helton on Coors Field on his 90th birthday. In his later years you would find him reading the newspaper, working on jigsaw puzzles and watching his favorite TV shows.
Andy passed away peacefully in his sleep the night of February 22, 2017, at the age of 95. He was preceded in death by his wife Vernelle, his brother Willliam and his sisters Mary and Lillian. He is survived by his daughter Debbie and her husband Bill Erickson, daughter Pam and her husband Don Van Camp, four grandchildren Lisa, Katie, Matt and Nathan and his four great-grandchildren. Also surviving are his close nephew Doug Brooks, numerous nieces, nephews and their families.
