Alice Marie Johnson was born on January 12, 1928 in Rush City, Minnesota. She was the second of four children. her siblings include: Doris Pitchford, Elizabeth Carlson and Arnold Uhlig, born to Olive (Wright) Uhlig and Charles Uhlig.
"I’m a stubborn German” was her phrase and it described her, but she was also as kind of woman that you could meet, always caring and giving to others even with her disabilities in later life. She was very caring and gave us the understanding and confidence that we could achieve anything in life and was always there with love and support. Alice loved knitting, crocheting, going to church, going on Jeeping trips, travelling. Her undeniable love of God is etched into the minds of those who knew her best. Her faith was strong and never fading.
In 1946, in Rush City, Minnesota Alice married the love of her life Harold Johnson. They loved one another dearly and raised two amazing children, Patricia and David.
Alice was a homemaker for 53 years; a Baker at Berkely Gardens Elementary School; and worked at Lutheran Hospital for 12 years in the Medical Imaging department. Alice, volunteered for 25 years at St. Anthony North Medical Center, and 5 years at Federal Heights.
Alice's most cherished friends included: Lorraine Schafer, Fern Gardner, Oralie Rosencranz, Alan Beatty, Shirley Nelson, Jan Hurtt, Lois Eshe, Linda (Lucille) Kugler, Marilyn and Lena Gosch, Joan and Bob Levy, the members of Advent Lutheran Church throughout her 65 years of membership and fellowship, and so many more. Most of the friends that she made were through her work with the church.
Auntie Alice has some wonderful nieces and nephews that she loved spending time with and they enjoyed being with her. She had macular degeneration for the last 20 years but that did not stop her from enjoying life to the fullest with her friends in the Blind Lions Club
There will be a Graveside Service at Olinger Highland Cemetery, 10201 Grant St, Thornton, Colorado on Thursday, April 18, 2019 at 12:00 pm followed by a Memorial service at Advent Lutheran Church, 7979 Meade St, Westminster, Colorado at 2:00 pm.
