Yin is predeceased by her devoted father Douglas Eng, and survived by her beloved mother Yin Ching Eng, and her loving siblings Raymond, Pauline, Annie, Helen, May and Judy and 11 nephews and nieces. Yin was married to Michael Lee in 1976 and they had no children.
Yin was born in Taishan, Gongdong, China on January 22, 1952. Yin came to Canada as a six-year-old child and met her father for the first time upon her arrival on April 9, 1958, Her father Douglas Eng lived and worked in Toronto for six years prior her arrival to pave the way for Yin and her mother's immigration. He eventually established a family home on Cecil Street, Toronto, where Yin spent her teenage years.
Yin graduated from the University of Guelph in Food Sciences. Yin worked for a number of food companies including Bick's Pickle, and Heinz, before becoming the Senior Program Officer in Consumer Protection Division of the Canadian Food Inspection Agency. Yin enjoyed her job and working with her colleagues, so much so, that she never wanted to retire.
Yin enjoyed life to its fullest. When she wasn't working, Yin would be found travelling the world with her family and friends, shopping and cooking the latest recipes she found from her travels.
Friends and Family may visit at the Jerrett Funeral Home - Vaughan Chapel, 8088 Yonge Street, Thornhill, Ontario (south of Highway 7), on Friday, May 2, 2014 from 6 - 9 pm and Saturday, May 3, 2014 from 10 - 11 am. A funeral service officiated by Reverend Peter Ma will be held in the chapel of the funeral home on Saturday, May 3, 2014 at 11 am. and reception will follow.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of your choice or the Canadian Cancer Society of Toronto.
