(Bill)-Passed away on January 25, 2010 at York Central Hospital, Richmond Hill, in his 73rd year after a period of declining health. Much loved husband of Vivian(Sewell). Loving father of Bill(Brenda) of Thornhill, Dave(partner Agnes) of Lisle, Ont., Cathy(Ray Krizman) of Bolton, and Doug of Edmonton, Alberta. Proud Grandpa of Kristen, Erin and Lianna Wylie, James, Eric and Scott Wylie, Joey and Leah Krizman, and Iris and Cassie Wong-Wylie. Predeceased by grandson Teddy Krizman. Brother of Dr. Richard Wylie of St. Thomas and Lynn Bednarz of Brantford. Bill was a high-school teacher and Vice-Principal in North York for 33 years, beginning his career at Earl Haig Secondary School and ending at York Mills Collegiate. A life-changing event occurred in 1980 when Bill purchased an abandoned heritage home for $1 and had it moved up Yonge Street to its present location to save it from demolition. With the help of his wife, children and good friend Les Jempson it was lovingly restored over the next 7 years. Bill was active in many community groups, assuming leadership positions with the Society for the Preservation of Historic Thornhill, The Thornhill Village Festival, Heritage Markham and Thornhill Ward One Ratepayers Association. He was a founding member of the Thornhill Heritage Foundation and was the recipient of a Lifetime Heritage Award from the Ontario Heritage Foundation. He enjoyed singing in the church choir as well as in many community groups over the years, most recently with Cantabile Chorale. He loved his cottage near Huntsville and was past-president of the Oxbow Lake Cottagers Association. Visitation on Wednesday, January 27, 2010 from 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. at the R.S.
