Peacefully at North York General Hospital on Thursday September 20, 2012 at the age of 92. Born July 6, 1920 in Toronto. Predeceased by his parents Stanley Carter and Rose Carter (nee Barham) from England. Nick was a veteran of WWII serving with the Royal Air Force as flight engineer, with the rank of Sergeant. He flew with 7 Squadron and was shot down over Germany in July 1942. He remained a POW until the end of the war. Post war he worked for Ontario Hydro for over 30 years. In 1950 he married Marion Elizabeth Lynch of Fredericton, N.B. who passed away December 2000. They our mourned by their son William Stanley Carter and his wife Donna Beth Christie-Carter, Nicks sister Margaret (Peggy) Richardson and by his niece Susan Delorme. Nicks three other sisters have predeceased him; Joyce Vincent, Edna Watson and Doris Johnson. A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, September 25th at 1:00 p.m. at the R.S. Kane Funeral Home (6150 Yonge Street, at Goulding, south of Steeles) In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the ALS society of Canada or the Canadian Cancer Society
