Violet, daughter of the late William and Ruby Armstrong, died peacefully at St. Hilda’s Towers in Toronto, ON, predeceased by her beloved husband Frederick Hugh Reid and by her brothers and their spouses: infant Walter, Bill (Florence), Andy (Jean) and Loane (Agnes). Violet will be greatly missed by her daughter Connie Webster (Blaine) Thornhill, her sons Douglas Reid, Windsor, Terry Reid , Markham, her grandchildren Jessica Webster (Ryan Goffin), Ottawa, Robin Webster (Erin), Newmarket and great-grandchildren Rafe and River, Newmarket and Jasper, Ottawa.
Survived by nieces and nephews most closely Eleanor Paterson (Bill), Barbara Armstrong, Debbie Butty (Les), Pat May (Bruce), Janet Rafuse, Bev Warren, Richard Armstrong, Grace Armstrong, Marg Holliwell (Mel) and Ruth Inkpen (Don) and their families, Violet was the last surviving member of her generation of Reid in-laws: Myrtle McCrimmon (Mac), Margaret Williams (Bert), Adelaide McCrimmon (Wilf), Harry (Gladys), Frank (Mary) and George (Margaret).
Raised in West Hill, ON, Violet lived most of her adult life in Sudbury and Windsor where she devoted much time to the Anglican Church (AW Life Member, Algoma Diocese) and other volunteer activities. Loving support of son Terry was her most enduring act of kindness. She moved to Thornhill, ON in 2009, thankful to the end for friends at Glynnwood Residence and those made in earlier years.
A memorial service to be held at Holy Trinity Anglican Church, 140 Brooke St., Thornhill, ON L4J 1Y9 at 10:30 AM on June 4, 2016, will be followed at a later date by interment at St. Margaret’s in-the-Pines, West Hill, ON.
