Born in Glastonbury, UK
October 16, 1929 - January 16, 2024
94 years and 3 months
Passed away peacefully Tuesday afternoon, January 16, 2024, after a brief illness at St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital. Ann, as she was known by her many friends will be greatly missed. She was treasured by so many, including her loving husband, John (deceased) and beloved daughter, Amanda and extended family and friends both near and far in the UK and New Zealand.
Ann touched so many during her almost 45 years as a nurse. She trained in Bath, UK, then worked in London at the Royal National Orthopaedics Hospital, and Royal National ENT. With adventure on her mind, she set off in her early 30’s to the US to work at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN, before coming to Canada where she met her beloved husband John at a house party in Hamilton.
A special thank you to all the staff at St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital and her new friends at Valleyview Long Term Care Home in St. Thomas for all the care and kindness she received the past year. In place of flowers, please consider donating to St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital or the Alzheimer’s Society (research) or the Scarborough Health Network General Hospital, where she was a Head Nurse and Infection Control Officer for many years.
There will be a Memorial Service on Saturday April 6, 2024 at 12pm at Holy Trinity Anglican Church, 140 Brooke Street, Thornhill. www.holytrinity-thornhill.ca
