Sarah Janet Bagworth passed peacefully with her husband, mother, father and brother by her side on February 19, 2022 at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre.
Sarah is survived by her husband Juan Ortiz, her son Juaquin, her Baba Nina Kunashko, Nana Marti Bagworth, her father Stephen Bagworth (Nancy Freymond), her mother Linda Kunashko, brother Tyler Bagworth (Vanessa Bagworth) and her darling niece Ophelia Sarah Bagworth.
Well-loved by all she met and admired for her exceptional qualities, Sarah will be missed by many; Uncle Peter & Aunt Patti, Aunt Nancy & Uncle Joe, Uncle David, Aunt Liana and cousins Alexander, Larissa, Marli, Erica, Kaitlyn, and Shawn; and by Sarita, Claudia, Andrea (big and little) and all of the Ortiz family – along a virtual legion of devoted friends and colleagues.
Sarah was an incredible wife and partner to Juan and an inspiration to her son Juaquin. Tributes that pour in remember Sarah as a beautiful, kind, and loving woman with a strength and grace that has left an indelible mark on the hearts of all she met. More recently, she distinguished herself as determined, resilient, and courageous; Sarah became an inspiration to many.
Through her incredible hard work, Sarah’s dream to make a full-time business along from riding horses and competing in high-level jumping events were realized when she moved to Florida to be close to the Palm Beach International Equestrian Centre to pursue her passion. Sarah was recognized among her peers as a true competitor, and she won ribbons at U-25, High Amateur and Grand Prix competitions.
The family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to the staff at Sunnybrook for their compassionate care, with special thanks to the team at the Odette Cancer Centre and on Unit C2.
Sarah’s wish was for a private family funeral in Ontario, without visitation. An event honoring her life will be held at the the Wellington National Golf Club, Florida on March 7, 2022.
