It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Ron, “Ronnie”, Morrison. Ron leaves behind Adrianne, his high school sweetheart, best friend, and wife whom he was with for 56 years and married for 43; his daughters Natalie and Jacqueline of whom he was inordinately proud; his mother, Betty; his siblings Jim Morrison and Debbie Packard and their families. He was predeceased by his father, Douglas Morrison, whom he admired deeply.
Ron grew up in Willowdale. After graduating from Western and Windsor Universities with BAs in History and Commerce, Ron returned to Toronto to establish a life in business, to marry Adrianne, and to raise his family. He was a doting husband and always eager to lend a hand or share one of his many skills, particularly with the two greatest joys in his life, his daughters.
A man of great integrity, a lover of dogs and an eternal optimist, Ron had many talents. He was an athlete, artist, handyman, grill-master, historian, avid reader and wonderful gardener. His love for tennis and curling continued until the day of his passing and his artwork still graces the walls of family and friends. He and his family were long-standing members of The Thornhill Golf Club where he curled, spent many happy hours with his friends, and where he and Adrianne held their wedding reception. A true people person, Ron was kind to everyone, lived life to the fullest and was known to his friends as the “Life of the Party” and “Last Man Standing.”
Ron’s true happy place was the Cottage. He spent his days puttering, relaxing on the deck, reading, chatting with anyone and everyone, enjoying a cold beer, and producing perfectly grilled delights from his trusty barbecue. He loved family games of euchre and passed his card shark prowess along to both of “his girls.”
Ron’s sudden departure has left his family and extensive network of friends bereft. A celebration of life ceremony will be announced at a future date, where all can cheers to Ron and celebrate his life. He will always be remembered for his infectious laugh and a smile that exuded happiness.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Ron’s name to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
