Paulette was born on September 25, 1941 in Timmins, ON to Beatrice and Emmanuel Clusieau. The youngest of seven siblings, she grew up with her sisters Lucille, Jaqueline, Raymonde, Lorraine, Rochelle, and brother Guy.
It was after moving to Toronto that she met David, her best friend and husband for 48 years. She and David raised three children: Deborah, Darin and Leigh-Ann.
Paulette’s life was one well-lived. She lived simply and honestly. And busily; she did not know how to sit idly.
She was always organizing and decluttering, and as a result, mastered the art of the garage sale. She was a seamstress and creator of amazing Hallowe’en costumes (the envy of the fourth grade, in fact). She was a painter of bedrooms and living rooms and a decorator who scrutinized every detail. She did not know how to do anything half-heartedly.
She watched soap operas. She enjoyed crossword and jigsaw puzzles. She loved playing bingo with her daughters. She made the best salsa and crab dip. She had a passion for ice skating and gardening and knitting. She made extraordinary arts and crafts and even started her own business.
She loved the mountains when she lived in Calgary. She travelled to Paris. She listened to Neil Diamond, Celine Dion, Josh Groban, Kenny Rogers and Barbara Streisand.
And she especially enjoyed her Tim Hortons small regular every day at two o’clock.
She passed away peacefully in Barrie, ON with her family by her side.
Paulette is survived by her husband David; her daughter Deborah (Dino), grandson Joey (Dana) and great-granddaughter Brooke, and granddaughter Jennifer; her son Darin (Naré); her daughter Leigh-Ann (Scott), and grandsons Michael, David and Matthew; her sister Raymonde; her brother Guy (Anne); cherished nieces and nephews; and many dear friends.
We are gathering to remember and celebrate Paulette’s life and her contribution to our lives at R.S. Kane Funeral Home (6150 Yonge St, Toronto, ON) on Wednesday, December 2, 2015 at 1:30 PM. Condolences may be extended at www.rskane.ca. The family is grateful for any and all donations made to Alzheimer Society of Ontario or Crohn’s and Colitis Canada.
