It is with great sadness we announce, that after a valiant and courageous battle with colon cancer, Nick died peacefully with his family by his side at home on Wednesday, June 8, 2011, in his 72nd year. Beloved husband of Lidia for 50 wonderful years . Loving father of Margaret (Dany), Anthony (Kelly), and Jennifer (Peter). Devoted and cherished Nonno of Daniel, Nicholas, Natalie, Charlotte, Romano, Annabelle, and Darcie. Nick is survived by his loving mother Margherita and predeceased by his father Antonio and by his father-in-law and mother-in-law Francesco and Giulietta Di Giuseppe. He will be greatly missed by his sister Liliana and brother-in-law Walter. Loyal brother-in-law of Valentina (the late Michael), Peter (Anna), and Nick (Diane). Nick will be fondly remembered by all of his extended family and many friends. He had a successful lifetime career in home building with Thornwillow Homes, Sound Homes and founding partner of Saberwood Homes. Nick accomplished many achievements over the years in his community, raising money through fundraising events first for the ErinOak Foundation and in the last 5 years for the Canadian Cancer Society. His efforts have raised over $350,000 towards colon cancer research and he earned the distinguished Award of Courage. Nick was knighted and is a member of the Knights of Columbus. He made friends wherever he went. Everyone who had the honour of meeting him will know the immensity of his character. His electric personality and his strong spirit will live on through his positive influence on us and on the world. Many thanks to Dr. S. Feinberg, Dr. H. Solow, Dr. S. Gallinger, Dr. A. Wei, Dr. M. McLean, Dr. R. Bordman, and nurses Irina and Virginia. Friends and family will be received on Saturday, June 11, 2011 from 6 - 9 p.m. and Sunday, June 12, 2011 from 1 - 4 and 6 - 9 p.m. at the R.S. Kane Funeral Home (6150 Yonge Street, at Goulding, south of Steeles). A Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, June 13, 2011 at 9:30 a.m. at St. Paschal Baylon R.C. Church(92 Steeles Avenue West).
