(nee Ross)
Passed away suddenly and quietly on Thursday November 6, 2014 at home with her grandson, Sam, by her side in her 93 year. Loving wife of John Willam Quigley. Beloved mother of John Ross Quigley and his wife Patricia, and Diane Murphy and her husband Kevin. Proud Grandmother of Jason (Cheryl), Brandon (Lucia), Jeremy (Aftab), Jonathan, Samuel, Christopher and Lori-Ann. Great Grandmother of Jake, Ethan, Emma, Sara, Ryan, Seff, Cafyar, Danielle and Michael.
Predeceased by her brother Clarke and sister Minnie, Marian was the daughter of the late John Ross and Harriet Newcombe Ross.
Marian was a graduate of the Maritime Business College and had a fulfilling career as a Mother and with the Young Women's Christian Association. She was a devout member and tireless volunteer for the St. Matthew's United Church in Halifax, Nova Scotia and, on retirement, John and Marian moved to Kingsport, Nova Scotia. They both continued their volunteer work with the Emmanuel United Church, in Kingsport. She was a thoughtful, intelligent and loving mother, a gracious volunteer, and a simple country girl from The Annapolis Valley, at heart.
Friends can pay their respects on Tuesday, November 11, 2014 from 11:05 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the R.S. Kane Funeral Home, 6150 Yonge Street (at Goulding, south of Steeles). A short memorial service will follow at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel. Marian will then return home to Kingsport to be interred with her husband in Habitant, Nova Scotia, her birthplace. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Emmanuel United Church in Kingsport, N.S., B0P 1H0 would be appreciated.
The family would like to thank Lorna, Janna and Karen for their gracious care and support of Marian in her final years.
