With sadness, we announce the death of Joyce Alice Park and the peaceful return to her eternal home on August 9, 2016, in her ninety-second year. Joyce was the beloved widow of Reverend Peter S. Park. Her loss is grieved by all who had the pleasure to know her and deeply mourned by her children Malcolm (Christine) and Nancy; and her grandchildren Amy and Emily. Lovingly remembered by her sister Sadie Abraham and her family.
Joyce was born in England, spent her early childhood in Ireland and Scotland and moved to Canada in 1952. She was the first woman graduate chemist employed by the Shell Petrochemical Company in its London research labs. She enjoyed the thrill of isolating a chemical compound that had never been registered before. She became a published author and gifted artist in her retirement.
Visitation will be held at the R.S. Kane Funeral Home, 6150 Yonge St. (at Goulding, south of Steeles), on Monday, August 15th from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A memorial service will be held at Holy Trinity Anglican Church, 140 Brooke St., Thornhill, on Tuesday, August 16th at 11 a.m. If desired, memorial donations may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation.
