Peacefully passed away on Friday, December 10, 2010 at Southlake Regional Health Centre. Born Regina, Saskatchewan on September 5, 1923; son of Cameron Joseph Turnbull and Lillian Irene Pentz; married in Regina July 31, 1948, to Hazel Evelyn, daughter of Milo and Annie Rockwell; children Lillian (Larry) Hall, Jack (Karen) Turnbull, Jocelyn (Lester) Bates; grandsons Cameron and Christopher Turnbull, and Bradley and Bryan Bates. Raised in Govan, Sask., served in Royal Canadian Air Force as a Pilot with #419 and #424 Bomber Command Squadrons in World War II, and awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross (DFC). Following war service, he attained Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy, Univ. of Saskatchewan, 1949, employed in city and rural Pharmacies. Moved to Ontario to become the Executive Director Canadian Pharmaceutical Association (CPhA), during which he was the initiating publisher of Compendium of Pharmaceutical Specialties (CPS). Upon retirement he became Project Consultant to the Drug Service Program, Barbados, and afterwards with WHO in Belize. Invested Order of Canada (CM) 1975. A member and past-Steward of Newtonbrook United Church; member and past-Director of Bayview Country Club; member Aircrew Association, Toronto Branch; Registrar Bomber Harris Trust and Vice-President Halifax Aircraft Association. With fond memories will be sadly missed by family and many friends. Thank you to all the kind staff at Sunrise Retirement Residence, Aurora for all their exceptional care and fun times and to all the staff at Southlake Regional Health Centre, Orthopaedic and Medical Rehab Units. A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, December 14, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at Newtonbrook United Church (53 Cummer Ave., North York). Cremation. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Newtonbrook United Church or charity of your choice.
