John passed peacefully with family by his side, on April 2, 2024 at MacKenzie Health Richmond Hill Hospital. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Barbara his children Lori Oosterbroek, Scott Rankin (Karen Will), and his grandchildren, Bradley Oosterbroek (Logan Powell), Charles Rankin and Joseph Rankin.
John is pre-deceased by his son in law, James Oosterbroek.
John will be remembered as a long-time member of Meadowbrook Golf and Country Club. He was retired from Motorola Canada in 1997 and enjoyed a long retirement of golf, fishing and cheering for the Toronto Maple Leafs and Blue Jays.
The family would like to express deep thanks to the staff at MacKenzie Health Richmond Hill Hospital for their compassionate care and also to the nurses and PSW’s provided through Home and Community Care.
A celebration of John’s life will be held by the family at a later date.
