Beloved husband and lifelong partner of Lorraine (nee Varrin).
Graham was the son of Kitty and Charlie Marks. He spent his early years living in the Middle East which encouraged his appreciation for adventure. He spent his youth travelling the world, surviving both shipwreck and lack of beer during an eventually successful transatlantic sailing trip with a friend. Graham lived in every continent except for Antarctica and frequently recounted tales of his adventures and misadventures as a sailor, pilot and deep sea diver. He had several occupations throughout his life, including Explosives Specialist, Home Builder, Cremation Technician, and Health and Safety Officer. He was passionate about technology and was an early adopter of the Internet.
Graham met his lifelong partner and wife Lorraine in Toronto, and together they moved around the world while raising their daughters, Patricia Martinovich (Alan Martinovich) and Nikki Marks (Sam Cohen). He taught his family to love travel, the ocean, champagne, wine, and fine foods. He also taught them how to shoot a gun, drink tequila, sail and swear.
Lorraine and Graham were rarely separated and together enjoyed the company of their many dogs who were always spoiled by Graham, and whom all were fed a daily breakfast of marmalade and toast. He is survived by his loyal Boarder Collie, Jessie- who was with him in his last moments. Graham once said that losing a dog is worse than losing a child, but we were not sure if he was serious.
Graham was predeceased by his parents and younger brother Andrew Marks, as well as his sister-in-law Bette, and brother-in-law Michael Jennings. He is survived by his beloved wife Lorraine, brothers Edward and Richard (Margaret) Marks, sister-in-law Jacquie Jennings, and nieces and nephews; Sarah, Julian, Justin, Jonny, Zach, Katie, Krissie, Maureen, Patricia and Andrew. He is also survived by his daughters, Patricia Martinovich and Nikki Marks, and grandchildren Alexandra Martinovich, Joshua Martinovich, AJ Martinovich, Zoe Cohen, and Talia Cohen.
Funeral service will be held on Friday August 2, 2019, 11:00 at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church, 3055 Bloor St W, Etobicoke, ON M8X 1C6. In-lieu of flowers, donations to Kensington Hospice would be appreciated. Many thanks to the staff at TWH and Kensington Hospice for their care.
