Dear Members of Norm Disch's Family, I'm sorry for your loss. I feel it too. I taught at Seneca with Norm from 1988 to his retirement. At Sheppard Campus, I often taught English to his floral design students. Norm was an inspiration to me. Not only was he deeply knowledgeable and committed to teaching floral art and design, but he was a remarkable mentor and friend. Norm was a very special person. When he retired from Seneca, I missed him a lot. Now so many people will miss Norm, including me. Norm, yours was a life well lived. Well done! Mary Gerritsma

Dear sweet Norman "The Dish"....I so enjoyed working near to you all those years ago...We were loud and obnoxious, but with your class and style you enjoyed all the frivolity. I will miss your infectious laughter when we sat on the stage at convocation, and I did my upmost to make you laugh....I succeeded many times!. Your wonderful flowers at the Minkler, your great Xmas lessons, trying to turn us into "arrangers". To the Family of Norman; I had the great pleasure of working with Norm for many years at Seneca. I was the other loud one near his office at the Sheppard campus. He was always such a happy, positive person and made everyone around him feel better just by talking to them. In my first year at Seneca he ran a workshop for the faculty to learn how to do Christmas floral decorations and he taught me so much. Every year now for the past 23 years I make Christmas floral decorations because of Norm's workshop and every year I tell my family how wonderful he was and how I will never forget him. I always say his workshop was my favourite day being a Seneca employee. Norm faced so many health challenges in his life and still had the biggest smile of anyone I know. He knew how to appreciate what was important in life and not to complain about the hard times or his noisy neighbours at work. His students loved him so much and the amazing creations he taught them to make were beautiful to see. I remember the time he got the poison oak all over and he was so itchy and sore and he still kept laughing. Norm made Seneca look so wonderful with all his florals, but his wonderful character brightened up the college even more than his outstanding magic with flowers. He was a very, very special man. All who met him knew that at Seneca. I can't imagine how much your family will all miss him, but I know that the memories you have of him and how much others admired him, will hopefully help you through these difficult days.
