It is with much sadness, love and gratitude for a life well lived that the family of Joanne Frances (Rawlins) Killer shares the news of her passing on October 2, 2024. She was surrounded by her beloved family in her final days, with much sharing of wonderful memories.
When Joanne was 15, meeting the person who would become her best friend changed her life forever. Together John and Joanne built a relationship that would last for 65 years. Married for 59 years, their love story was an inspiration to those around them. Some of their happiest memories were spent criss-crossing Canada in tent and trailers, finally landing with their beloved fifth-wheel and giant trucks. With boundless love, they raised their children, Jen Diceman (Derek) and Lesley McPherson (Graham). Their family home was the site of many happy times, get togethers with friends, boisterous family meals and grandchildren sleepovers. Being Grandma to Natalie, Ryan, Lauren and Connor was her greatest pride, as was being the hockey cheerleader with the loudest bell. She loved them beyond measure and was so grateful to be part of their daily lives and accomplishments.
Joanne will be missed immensely by her family, whose lives were forever changed on October 2, 2024; including her circle of Guiding and curling friends, her brother- and sister-in-law, Gord and Jane Killer and her nephews Chris and Andrew. She touched many people with her warmth, kindness, humour, generosity, humility, and love.
A visitation for Joanne will be held at Kane-Jerrett Funeral Homes (8088 Yonge Street, Thornhill) on Friday, October 11, 2024 at 12:30pm. A service of remembrance will occur following the visitation at 1:30pm. Following the service there will be a reception on our second level.
In lieu of flowers, the family would welcome and appreciate donations in Joanne’s name to Arthritis Society Canada or World Wildlife Fund Canada.
