Jean Elizabeth Richard

Jean passed peacefully on September 01, 2022 at North York General Hospital, in her 91st year. She was born on December 02, 1931, in Aberdeen, Scotland. Jean was predeceased by her parents Charles and Jean Farquhar, and siblings Joey, George, Sheila, Rosemarie, Charles and Ian.

Jean emigrated to Canada in 1949, and married in Toronto in 1952. Jean is survived by her husband of 70 years, Joseph Zoel, and her sister Patricia (Grant). She will be deeply missed by her children Carol Marie (Douglas), Paul Joseph (Noreen), Gail Marie (Alan), David Joseph, and lovingly remembered by her grandchildren Michelle (Chris), Erin (Kwame), Jacob, and Aaron.

Jean was caring wife, loving mother, and grandmother, who was devoted to both family and faith. She was a long time member of Blessed Trinity Parish of Toronto, and dedicated many years in various roles at both the Rectory and the church.

The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the staff at Carefree Lodge, for their support and kindness throughout these past four years, as well as the compassionate care from the nurses and doctors at North York General Hospital, who tended to Jean during her last few days.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 6, 2022 at Blessed Trinity Parish, 3220 Bayview Avenue, Toronto, from 10:00 am to 11:00 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian burial at Blessed Trinity. Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider a donation in memory of Jean to the Alzheimer Association of Ontario.
