It is with the most profound sorrow that I tell you of the passing of my deeply loved Father, Harry Reginald Berry at the age of 97. Beloved husband for 46 years of the late Mae and predeceased by his sister Winifred, brothers Thomas and Donald, and many sisters- and brothers-in-law. He leaves behind his deeply grieving daughter Elizabeth, many nieces, nephews, and friends. After emigrating to Canada from Gillingham, England, in 1910, with his parents, Adah and Thomas, Dad began to work for Canada Packers and stayed in their employ for 46 years, retiring in 1975. Dad settled at Otonobee Court in Keene, ON in 1985, and enjoyed winters in Dunedin, Florida attending the Blue Jays spring training. My Father was such a special man - he was a caregiver to my Mother and his sister Winifred for many years. Dad, you were my dearest friend, my mentor, and it was my absolute ultimate honour and blessing to be your caregiver during the past three years. You were, beyond doubt, the most wonderful man I have ever known and a Father who never stopped loving in the midst of all your suffering. As I begin this new chapter of my life, I know you and Mom will be watching over me as my personal Guardian Angels. Special thanks to Fr. John Weber, Fr. Joe, Dr. Friesen, and the nurses of B4 at Peterborough Regional Health Centre for their unbelievable love and care. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 1, 2008 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the R.S. Kane Funeral Home (6150 Yonge Street, at Goulding, south of Steeles). A Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, October 2 at 10:30 a.m. at Church of the Good Shepherd (21 Simonston Blvd, Thornhill). In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society.
"Dad, I will miss you more than words can illustrate."
