Gerard Herman van Beusekom

GERARDUS HERMANUS THEODORUS VAN BEUSEKOM. On September 20, 2022 our beloved husband, father, and opa, Gerard van Beusekom, passed away in his 91st year from covid pneumonia. Gerard emigrated to Canada from the Netherlands in 1956 and met his bride-to-be Thecla van der Sman soon thereafter. A chartered accountant by profession, he worked for many years at the Auditor General’s Office. Gerard will be remembered for his devotion to his family, his quiet thoughtfulness and generosity, unique sense of humour, and love of life. Survived by his wife Thecla; children Monique (Maureen); Marc (Kim); Michelle (Alex); siblings Tess and Paul; grandchildren Jessica, Danielle, Nicole, Theo and Tomas and a large extended family including many nieces and nephews all over the world.

A funeral mass will be held for Gerard on Wednesday September 28, 2022 at the Kane Jerrett Funeral home in Thornhill at 11AM EDT followed by a reception. For those unable to attend in person, the funeral will be live streamed at: https://funeraweb.tv/en/diffusions/61249

The family extends sincere thanks to the dedicated staff at Grace Manor who have cared for Gerard with such kindness since 2019.

In lieu of flowers, we encourage donations to Grace Manor Family Council to support family-led initiatives aimed at improving quality of life for others at the Long-Term-Care home where Gerard lived and Thecla still lives.
