Georgina Patricia Gough

Georgina Patricia Gough passed peacefully on February 3, 2021 with her beloved husband of 49 years by her side.

She will be missed by husband William Edward Gough; children Julia (Matthew), Michael, Ashley (Victor), and Jennifer (Joseph); grandchildren Alexandra Georgina, Ryan, Carter, Gabriel, Owen, and Brooke; sister Lisa Haga-Wozney; nieces and nephews; as well as extended family, friends, and former colleagues and students.

She is pre-deceased by her mother Aileen Georgina Kulmala Haga, stepfather Arne Haga,and father Herbert Vitale

To know Georgina was to love her. She was thoughtful, intelligent, fun, fierce, considerate, generous, caring, friendly, devoted, exuberant, and extremely loyal.

Having a flair for artistry and creativity, her penmanship was beautiful, and she especially enjoyed painting and drawing at her home in the Collingwood area. She loved music, fashion, travel, ballet, musical theatre, and decorating and was drawn to antiques and art.

She was allergic to cats but enjoyed the deepest connection with her dogs and cats throughout her years including Niki (current), Bridget, Ridley, Beau, Sarah, Katie, Kitty, Skye, Molly, Samantha, Sandy, and Micky.

Georgina was born and raised in Toronto. She first met her husband William Edward while studying at Sidney Smith Hall library at the University of Toronto. They were married five months later and would have celebrated 50 years of loving marriage this November. They made Toronto their home. In the years to follow she would receive her Masters in Education and teach for both the Catholic and Public Toronto School Boards in Special Education and English as a Second Language.

The well being of disadvantaged children was so important to her. She would often donate her time and money for their benefit and invite them into her home. Helping and caring for others brought her so much joy. She taught her own children to be compassionate toward the less fortunate and be respectful and mindful of others’ feelings.

Georgina loved her family and poured her boundless energy into her home and family. She would speak to her children multiple times a day. She will be remembered as a loving daughter, aunt, sister, sister-in-law, wife, and mother who was devoted to family and loved every moment she spent with them.

Due to Covid-19 restrictions, only a private funeral for her immediate family can be held. Condolences can be left at the Kane-Jerrett website.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks you to honour her legacy by helping someone in need and donating to either the Heart and Stroke Foundation, the Alzheimer’s Society, or CAMH.

Her loss has truly left a hole in the hearts of her loved ones. May she rest in peace and be among her angels and loved ones in heaven. “I'll love you forever, I'll like you for always, As long as I'm living, My baby you'll be.”
