Dear Trevor, David and Louise

My  sincere condolences on the passing of Betty, my very special friend of over thirty years.   I loved her and will miss her greatly, as will you all. 
She was so very proud of her grandchildren, and I hope they will remember her with affection.
I was  sorry to miss  the funeral, as I was in the U.K. at the time, but my thoughts and prayers were with you all.

Louise, I am so sorry to hear of your mom's passing. I did not know until Braden just mentioned Holly wrote a post. I wish I had known because I would have come.

Betty was also a person of deep faith and she is now at peace in her eternal home in God's kingdom.

Never passed Betty after communion without stopping for a moment at her pew to give and get a sincere, warm hug... loved our chats about knitting, England, flowers and fibre!  

Those amazing two colour mittens she made just for me using the intricate Newfoundland pattern will be forever treasured - as are memories of my few visits to the A wing to catch her up on Holy Trinity goings-on, watch her thoroughly enjoy a Boston cream doughnut that her friend Mary brought as well as some colourful spring flowers stuck into the ground outside her window! (bless the RN who angled her bed so they would be in full view)

I adored that lady and will miss her dearly.

Dear Louise, David and Trevor, We are all so sorry to hear of your loss and we can emphasise with your feelings. Betty was special to all of us as a good friend, generous person with whom it was a pleasure to share so many joyous moments in those early days in Thornhill and at Holy Trinity. 

You will be in our prayers and thoughts.

Very sorry to read of Betty's passing in today's Toronto Star.  My thoughts and prayers are with Trevor and the family at this time of loss.  I hope that they will have some time to reflect on Betty's life, not in terms of the immediate challenges that she went through, but the deeper and broader patterns of a life well lived that has gone on to its glory.
