I am so sad to hear of his passing. David always seemed to have a youthful energy and passion about life that it is difficult to imagine him not outlasting all of us. 

An annual highlight was his gift of the Oriental dinner each year at HopeSpring dinner and auction, plus the stories of what took place the prior year and the hotly contested bidding for this top "prize". He helped make this important fund raising effort a special event.

I was greatly saddened by the news of Dave's passing. It is only rarely, that in a 
fortunate combination of circumstances, you encounter a truly unique personality.  Someone who can add a refreshing new and pleasant aspect to your life.  Dave was just such a man.

We didn't even see each other often but each time had a flavour of adventure and, 
in looking back, those times have been high lights in my life.

I expect Dave touched many others in the same way.  I feel rather privileged to have spent such good times with him.

Our memories of David go back 50 years. We Rembrandt him as adynamicpersonality,whose star shone brightly.
Our families shared many a common bond,at that time we were raising families and working hard. Gerry represented Cheryl's xmas line in Manitoba. The kids were beautiful and talented and would make any parents proud. So many good memories.
Monty spoke to David a few months ago and was overwhelmed by his bravery and fortitude in dealing with his illness.

It was with a great deal of sorrow to hear of the passing of David. He has always been a friendly and helpful friend, and will be sorely missed by myself and family and by all who knew him.

I was saddened to hear that Mr. Hancock passed away.  
I met Mr. Hancock in HK back in mid eighties.  He contracted me with MFC in August 1995. Mr. Hancock was a visionary leader, a savvy businessman, a mentor but more importantly always a gentleman.
I miss him dearly and I will always remember him.  He will forever has a special place in my heart and memories.
It is a true honor to meet him in my life.

We grew closer over the past few years, fishing, beers at the pub, News Year Eve 2017 and watching the Super Bowl.  A terrific understated sense of humour coupled with a thoughtful sincerity.  One of the best.

In fact I succeeded David as President of the Canadian Club of Hong Kong.  David was a larger than life character - warm, charismatic and intelligent.  He left a lasting impression on all who had the good fortune to know him.  He was a fine man and a fine Canadian. To the Hancock Family;
A good friend of mine, Gary Dawson told me about this very close friend of his: David Hancock. This man sounded mythical in what he had done and how he lived. Upon meeting David I was immediately impressed that Gary had not exaggerated and this guys really all he was billed to be.  Slightly intimated at first I soon learned just what a wonderful person David was. I have not met a more impressive person. Such intelligence, grace under pressure, warmth and what charm!! A most exceptional man!!
He showed us all what it is to live large and to embrace this life with all you have. I was humbled by his love of life and what he brought to all who knew him.
I am envious of his family who got to spend so many years with him - you are most fortunate.
I look forward to getting together with David in the next stage - there is a lot more fishing to be done.

Aside from the business and personal success he achieved, I'll most remember Dave's sense of humour and easy way about him. He was fun to be around.

I thought Kipling's If was a most fitting tribute to this extraordinary man. I was proud to call David my friend, and in a world where many talk about it but too few actually travel it, David always took the high road. 

Class and dignity are only a few of the positive adjectives to describe a man that lived life in a manner that only a few can aspire to- to say he will be missed is an understatement, but it is not an understatement to say that he loved and lived to the fullest.

Without question, I know of no one personally who garnered more affection and respect from his peers, employees and bosses. It saddens me greatly to hear of Davids passing.  It has been many years since I have spent time at the Hancock farm but I will never forget the great memories I have had there.  I didn't know David in his professional life, but I did know him as a kind and loving father with a wonderful sense of humour.  Whether Barclay and I were digging out the basement, working the tree farm or pulling in the hay, David was always there to oversee the work.  Witty words of encouragement, making us laugh often,  helped keep us motivated on those hot summer days.   He was truly in his element on the farm.  I will always remember him with a big smile on his face wearing his work overalls not far from the tractor...

The last time I saw David was Dec 21st, 2016, when a group of "old boys/girls" from Toronto Oriental visited him at his farm home. 

Even David has been sicked for a while, he still was so delightful and happy to see us all, my memory of David is always cheerful and caring. 

David also told me then he is so grateful for his life, he is blessed for what he has and there is no complaint. 

It is a privilege to work under David and I learnt so much from him.  He is a great leader, a good boss and a good friend. There are many fond memories of David, I plan to come and see him again in Sept but regretfully he already rested in peace. David will be missed...

It is with a heavy heart that I learned of David's passing. Even when you know it's coming, it's hard to take the news. I have been David's accountant for over 20 years and not once in all those years did he ever do, ask or say anything that wasn't consistent with being a great person and friend. My strongest memories of David will be working together to take hay off his farm fields. Everyone probably remembers for life what they were doing and who they were with on that fateful morning of September 11, 2001 when the planes hit the World Trade Centre in NYC. I was with David and we watched the drama unfold before us together. That memory of David I will carry to my grave.

Mr. Hancock will be missed. In the brief moments we have been with him during annual company management dinner here in Manila, it has always been delightful. I first came to know about you because of his interesting stories of how you two met and fell in love.
