Christina (Weir) Ferguson

Passed away peacefully in her home with family by her side January 4th 2022 in her 92nd year. She was the cherished and loving wife of 65 years to the late Donald Ferguson of Scotland. Loving mother of Christine, Dawn and Shelagh. Grandmother to Victoria, Gordon and Scott. Great Grandmother to Nyla and Eleanor. Dear sister to Esther of Scotland. Predeceased by her sister Nan. Dear cousins Betty and Christine and extended family in Scotland. Born in Greenock, Scotland to the late Esther Geddes Weir.

Her pet name was Celia. She did her training in nursing as well as midwifery, at Southern General Hospital in Glasgow, Scotland. She left Scotland as she had a nursing job waiting for her in Canada. She arrived by ship in 1952 to meet up with Donald. They married and both settled in Toronto to start their family. Christina started her career as a registered nurse. She spent most of her working career at North York General Hospital. She was a voice to be reckoned with, a firecracker, always ready for a debate and a challenge and enjoyed discussing politics and news of the day. She had an incredible social life, and was well known and loved by many. She enjoyed travel, sunny vacations south, and loved her garden. She, along with her family and friends would enjoy summer days by the pool and endless summer gatherings. She particularly enjoyed the game of soccer and joined the local ladies soccer team. She would make frequent trips back to her home country of Scotland to visit extended family. Along with Donald they were longstanding members of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 66. She was a member of the Newton Brook United Scottish Country Dancing . She made lifelong friendships where ever she went, and will be greatly missed by many.

The family would like to express deep thanks to the many PSW staff that cared for her, particularly Eden and Agnes and for their superior care and compassion.
