To The Hall Family: My prayers and thoughts are with all of you during this very difficult time

I was saddened to hear of Basil's death this week and wish to express my condolences to Gisele, John and the rest of Basil's family. I knew Basil through squash at the Cricket Club and for several years we were co-captains of the Club's team which competed with the MB+SC for the coveted Inter-City Trophy. What good times we had putting together the team and then trying to keep them organized in Montreal - it was like herding cats. The last few years we shared our thoughts on 'exit strategies' from our businesses and challenges we were presented with. I shall miss Basil around the Club and on the squash court. I regret that I cannot attend the service on Friday as I am away on vacation but Basil will be in my thoughts tomorrow afternoon. Jon LeHeup

My deepest sympathies for Gisele, John, Jennifer, Bryan, Danielle in your loss. Blessed is his suffering is past and Basil is home to rest in the arms of our loving Father. My brother Dan (56) passed last week July 13/2009 losing his battle with cancer. In the final hours I watched him fight for life taking deep gasping breaths of air and finally slowly faint away with soft failing breath. To watch a loved one pass this way is terrible. You have my deepest empathy. May you have comfort this pain and fight is over for Basil. My memories of Basil are fond. Basil massive reserve of energy and was a tough negotiator that knew what he wanted when he came to the table and would not settle for less. Jennifer may remember the many calls to speak and meet with Basil and in his busy business he made time for my interruptions. I always felt a bond and companionship and never any animosity from Basil. Basil made me welcome at any time. Basil was so proud of his family and adored his children. May you life honor him. Gisele: Sorry to hear of your loss. It had been many years since we had seen each other, but then a few months ago there you were with Basil, in the grocery store. I think of you often (driving by Argonne) and now I'm sending you my condolences and just wanted you to know I'm thinking of you at this sad time in your life Take care and be well

Dear Hall Family, It is with sorrow that I learned of the passing of Bas Hall after a short illness. Although I have had little contact with Bas, Jr in the later years, this was not the case during our adolescence. I have fond memories of Basil from growing up in North Toronto at a time in our lives when there are so many changes and new impressions. Memories of washing cars with the Halls on Marchwood Dr and their crazy boxer dog, Sandy. This was even more the case during our summers at Balm Beach in the 50s and 60s with Basil along with his two younger siblings, Tom and Brian. Who can forget the lively Basil who was an esteemed dancer, always well groomed, an indefatigable squash player and ready to take on life and its adventures. My sincere condolences to the immediate Basil Hall family and to the extended Hall group. May he rest in peace in the great beyond. Jake Ryan

Please accept my heartfelt condolences on the loss of this great man. I have yet to meet someone as passionate as BTH with all aspects of his life; his family, his business and his recreational activities. Mr. Hall knew how to enjoy life and I am grateful to have met him and enjoyed his company. Although Mr. Hall was strict with his business policies, he kept us on track and I know he will be maintaining someone's A/R in heaven. The void he leaves will never be filled, he was someone who I admired and respected. I believe this will be the majority of the sentiments you receive. I will pray for your family's strength during this most difficult time.
