God finally answered Basil's request to die a holy and peaceful death on July 13th, 2009 (his 72nd birthday). Basil will be sadly missed by Gisele his loving wife of 43 years, son John and his wife Julie, daughter Jennifer, son Bryan and his wife Laura, and daughter Danielle and her husband Sean, his grandchildren Dylan, Emily, Olivia, Ethan, Sophia, Matthew, Abby and Ben. Basil will also be sadly missed by brother Tom and his wife Marilyn, brother Brian and his fiancé Debbie, brother Peter and his wife Linda, sister Cathie and her husband Michael and his numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his family, Basil will be missed by the members of MOMS (his life long close knit friends); his many squash buddies at the Toronto Cricket Skating and Curling Club who he played squash with over the past 52 years, and the ushers of Blessed Trinity where Basil acted as Head Usher for the past 37 years. Basil lived life to the fullest and was especially passionate about his involvement as President of Treck Hall Photographic for 50 years. Basil is now being welcomed into heaven by his parents Basil Sr. and Rita. Friends may call on Wednesday July 15th from 7 to 9 p.m. and on Thursday July 16th from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the R. S. Kane Funeral Home, 6150 Yonge Street (at Goulding, south of Steeles). Funeral Mass to be held on Friday July 17th, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at Blessed Trinity Parish, 3220 Bayview Avenue (north of Finch). Interment Mount Hope Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to either the Canadian Cancer Society or Sunnybrook Hospital Foundation - Odette Centre.
