Gently, Barbara passed away on Monday, February 20th, 2017 at North York General Hospital, in her 91st year, with her family by her side. Barb and her siblings, Jack O'Neill (Mary), Brian O'Neill (Jean), Sr. Clare O'Neill and Paul O'Neill (the late Eleanor), were raised in Montreal by their parents, Jean and Stafford. Their friendship, love and shared history brought great joy to Barb's life. Barb and the late Clifford Glenny's children, Neil Glenny (Barbara), Deborah Reesor (Peter), Mary Clare Fenn (Richard), and Blair Glenny (Marisa), feel fortunate to have had Barb as their mother, friend and strongest supporter. She could always make us laugh. Barb embraced the children of her late husband John Bunting; Christopher Bunting (Marie) and Francis Rice (Jack), and they have remained a constant and loving presence in her life. The late Herbert "Bert" Shea was her final love story. They married in 2006, inspiring us all with their capacity to find a soul mate, to fall in love and have the dreams of newlyweds. Bert's children Charles (Diane) Shea, Linda Shea-Carter (Wayne) and Karen Shea welcomed Barb into their family and remained a loving presence in her life. Grandchildren arrived, and eventually great-grandchildren. The grandchildren can each claim a unique relationship with their Nana. She made them laugh, and they brought her immeasurable joy. Barb knew adversity but was always bolstered by her friends and colleagues from her 60 years in real estate, her adventures on the golf course, and her church community. Barb would describe her life as well and happily lived. We will miss being a part of her happy, well lived life. She leaves us all with warm and happy memories. A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Gabriel’s Passionist Parish (670 Sheppard Ave E., Toronto) on Friday, February 24, 2017 at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or Covenant House.
