I am so sorry to have missed the memorial service on Saturday. I think your mom would understand - I was at The Bodyguard rousing musical with 3 longtime camp friends.

Our time growing up in the Fairmeadow PS neighbourhood, and at Yorkminster United Church have left many fond and formative memories of your mom and dad. 
As a child, I always thought of your mom, especially at church, as a presence, an energy, a leader, and a cheerful one at that. And later, when she was at the Donway, someone I could easily say hi to in the dining room, or knock on her apartment door, and know we'd have a lovely interesting chat.

My dear Kathy and Bud,
 
I want you both to know how sorry I was to read of the death, of your dear, Mother, Barbara.  For me – happy memories of her go back sixty years, since we arrived from England and were fortunate enough to find a home on Upper Canada Drive.  She – and others, now, sadly departed from this Life,,, were the main reason we settled so happily in Canada.
 
Since we moved down into Toronto – also, many years ago – it has been a joy to know that my friendship with Barbara has continued.  I remember, with delight, her wonderful Birthday parties, but, also, how she kept “in touch” so that I could be in touch with other friends from U.C.D.  She was there for me in good time as well as sad.
 

Through her long and mostly, I feel, happy Life you, her children, were her constant source of love and pride.  You enjoyed so much together which was the good fortune of all of you.   You will miss her, of course, but you can go forward into your lives now knowing how much you gave to hers.  I was sorry not to join you at Barbara’s memorial service.  I assure you I did think long and hard about it – but the thought of the journey by TTC from Bloor and Islington, and back, defeated me! Both of you and your Mum do, however, remain in my thoughts and prayers.     With my Love,   Mary Harris.

Barb was a great inspiration.   Enjoyed our time as colleagues at Owen School and meetings of North York Historical Society.  Always upbeat and busy.

My deepest condolences to Kathy and Bud on the loss of your mom, Barb.  A truly wonderful and special friend.

Dear Kathy and Bud,

We were so sorry to hear about your mom's passing. We remember her as an energetic force to be reckoned with at Out of the Cold. For 9 years we spent every Monday together working and talking away while making piles of sandwiches. She was a fantastic lady! Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

So sorry to hear of the passing of your mother,  she visited our farm a few times with Lois Smith, had great laughs with her and the sharing of stories.   My sincere condolences to you and your families

Dear Kathy and Bud: On behalf of The Ontario Historical Society (OHS), I wanted you to know how sorry we are to hear about the loss of your mum. I had the privilege and honour of working with Barb at the OHS, where she was both an employee and a long time dedicated volunteer. Your mother was one heck of a special person. I had over the years so many laughs with her (and drinks) I am smiling as I write this. Staff meetings and garage sales were never the same without Barb. She loved history and was a real champion for North York and Ontario's heritage. Barb helped us to stop the demolition of the historic John McKenzie House in Willowdale, then volunteered countless hours to raise the money to restore the building so it could be the new home for OHS and for over a decade greeted visitors on our behalf for Doors Open Toronto. I salute Barb for making this a more decent and civilized community and Province for all of us. Barb - we miss you and we are thinking of you - your sense of humour, boundless energy and enthusiasm, always gracious, generous and genuine with a sparkle in your eye.

I am Judy Worsley's sister and had met Barb on several occasions with Judy. She was a delightful person! I send you my heartfelt condolences on her death.
