A century and 2 years ago, Ester Annikki Nousiainen (nee Junnola) was born in Sakkijarvi, Finland, on January 17, 1921. The first of 14 children! Annikki died on December 8, 2023 at Michael Garron Hospital.
She walked with grace and courage through World War 2, emigrating to Canada, working as a master seamstress, raising 3 boys with her husband, Veikko.
There were lineups for her pulla and pasties! A staunch supporter of her church, with strong faith, she was calm and welcoming. She enjoyed hosting family and friends at the lakeside cottage near Picton, Ontario.
Predeceased by husband Kaarlo Veikko and son Eric. Survived by sons Tapani (Marjut) and Rauno, grandchildren Markku (Brigid) and Katrina (Adam), great grandchildren Nora, Ester, Johannes, Hugo and Porter, and siblings Seppo Junnola (Canada), Teuvo, Elli and Kaarina in Finland.
Service at Agricola Finnish Lutheran Church, 25 Old York Mills Rd. on Wednesday, December 20, 2023 at 3:00p.m.
