We are so sad to tell you of the passing of Adele Hrynyshyn on Saturday, June 5, 2021 at age 88. Adele passed peacefully at the Cummer Lodge long term care home in Toronto with her son Terry and daughter Karen at her side. She suffered more than 15 years with Alzheimer’s disease.
Daughter in law Helen, grandsons Christopher, Alexander, Lucas and Michael will forever miss her quick wit, vivacious personality, warm hugs, love of life, and delicious cooking.
I once asked her where she got the desire to paint. She told me that when they were young, without money, and they needed something to put on the walls, she learned to paint. When she retired, she taught herself how to arrange silk flowers. They were beautiful.
Adele was the hub of the wheel that kept the family together and moving forward. She was nurturing, especially when she fed PB&J to the squirrels in the backyard. Her diagnosis of Alzheimer’s disease and long illness was tough on all of us but especially on her. Adele is predeceased by her husband Jerry.
She was born on August 8, 1932, in the town of Ethelbert, Manitoba, 370 kilometres northwest of Winnipeg. From the age of five, Adele was raised by her aunt Polly Sagan in Toronto. She met Jerry and they married in June, 1953. She supported all of us in our happiest and most difficult times.
A Celebration of Life will occur at a later date considering the circumstances. In lieu of flowers, kindly make your donations to the Alzheimer’s Society of Toronto. Please raise a glass to Adele’s memory and know that she loved all of you very much.
