Rex was born on April 18, 1943 in Surry County to the late Burlie James Jessup and Nancy Bryant Jessup. He attended Carolina Memorial Baptist Church in Thomasville and had retired from Golden State Foods. Rex especially enjoyed riding Honda motorcycles and gathering with his special friends at McDonald’s each morning.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a twin brother, Burlie Reece Jessup.
Surviving are his daughters, Leslie Watts and her husband Chris of Thomasville and Lisa Sappenfield and her husband Mark of Thomasville; six grandchildren, Christian Reece Watts, Cidney Watts, Logan Watts, Zachary Davis, Alisha Davis, and Olivia Davis; five great grandchildren; sisters, Janie Landreth and her husband Derwood of Alabama and Linda Wall and her husband James Hussey of Wallburg; brother, Jimmy Jessup of Greensboro; and special friend, Peggy Hooper.
A graveside service will be held at 1 pm Saturday, July 9th at Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery with Pastor Jason Poe officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 pm Friday, July 8th at Thomasville Funeral Home, 18 Randolph Street.
In celebration of Rex’s love for motorcycles, all of his fellow riding friends are invited to meet at Thomasville Funeral Home at 12:30 pm on Saturday to assemble a processional to the graveside service.
