Mr. Thomas Edward “Tom” Jenkins, Sr., 78, passed away Tuesday, October 25, 2016 at the High Point Regional Hospital.
Tom was born on November 23, 1937 in Washington D.C. to the late Raymond Edward and Sylvia Garrett Jenkins. He was a member of Fairmont Park Baptist Church in High Point and a veteran of the United States Naval Reserves.
Tom had worked as a painter and wallpaper finisher for the Hatteras Yacht Company. He had a passion for bowling and did so for many years on the Hatteras team, having bowled a personal best of 299.
He had a love for baseball and football, staying true to the Washington Nationals and Redskins, as well as the Carolina Panthers. Tom also enjoyed playing Canasta.
Tom was a proud father, grandfather, and loving husband to his wife, Louise, to whom he was married over 54 years.
In addition to his wife, Tom is survived by a daughter, Mary Jenkins Green and husband Ken of Myrtle Beach, SC; son, Thomas Edward Jenkins, Jr. of Myrtle Beach, SC; three granddaughters, Caroline, Catherine, and Claire; sister, Marianne Jenkins Anastasi of LaPlata, MD; and niece, Teresa Robinson.
A celebration of Tom’s life will be held at 3 pm Friday, October 28th in the chapel of Thomasville Funeral Home, 18 Randolph Street, with Dr. Rev. Steven Jones officiating. Interment will follow in the Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends 1 pm until the hour of the service at the funeral home and other times at the home of his wife.
