Stewart E. Hedrick, 96, passed away Sunday, November 29, 2015 at the W. G. Hefner V.A. Medical Center in Salisbury following several months of declining health.
Stewart was born in Davidson County, December 11, 1918, a son of Ray B. Hedrick and Myrtle Elizabeth Beck Hedrick. He was an Army veteran of World War II, where he was a POW in Germany. Stewart worked for the railroad for several years and retired from Link-Taylor Furniture. Stewart was a member of New Jerusalem Lutheran Church and enjoyed farming. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lillie Isabelle Wade Hedrick.
Surviving are a son, Tony E. Hedrick and his wife Cynthia of the home; a brother, Bryce M. Hedrick and his wife Frances; a grandson, Rickey E. Hedrick; a great-grandson, Brett Hedrick and several cousins.
Graveside service will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery in Thomasville by Reverend Dr. E. Keith Carroll. The family will receive friends at Thomasville Funeral Home Friday from 6:30 until 8. Memorials may be directed to the charity of the donor’s choice.
