Robert Vernon Passmore

Mr. Robert Vernon Passmore, 87, a resident of Thomasville, passed away Monday, September 29, 2014 at his home.

Mr. Passmore was born on July 1, 1927 in Franklin, NC to the late Roy and Martha Wilson Passmore. He was of the Baptist faith and attended New Heights Baptist Church in Trinity. He especially enjoyed fishing, going to auctions, singing, playing guitars, family cookouts, and Chevrolet vehicles. Mr. Passmore was also owner and operator of the Dinner Bell Restaurants in Thomasville and Albemarle. In addition to his parents, Mr. Passmore was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Carpenter Passmore; sisters, Louise Richardson and Nina Cochran; and brothers, Eugene, Grover, Fred, and Claude Passmore.

Surviving are his daughter, Brenda Hathcock and her husband Steve of New London; sons, Joey Passmore and wife Brandy of Thomasville, Jimmy Passmore of the home, and Timmy Passmore of Albemarle; sister, Rosie Bingham of Crescent City, CA; and brother, R.L. Passmore of Andrews. Also surviving are eight grandchildren, Angel Swaringen, Alisha Chandler, Shannon Whitley, David Passmore, Carrie-Ellen Ayers, Tammy Albertson, Robbie Byerly, and Joy Kinley; thirteen great grandchildren, Alex, Allison, Jacob, Brittany, Robbie, Lex, Heather, Jordan, Maci, Kraylon, Auburn, Baylor, and Zach; and several nieces and nephews.

A celebration of Mr. Passmore’s life will be held at 3 pm Friday in the chapel of Thomasville Funeral Home, 18 Randolph Street, with Reverend Roger Porter officiating. Burial will follow in Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 pm Thursday at the funeral home and other times at the home.
