Richard retired from the City of Thomasville after more than 30 years with the Water Department. Richard and his wife Arlene were owner/operator of Hicks Grocery, aka "The Liars Club" since the early 1970's, closing in 2000. Hicks Grocery was the focal point of the community for nearly 30 years with countless hours spent by many generations telling stories (lies) on the front bench, playing a game of Rook with friends, or drinking a cold bottle of Coke filled with peanuts. He was a beloved father, grandfather, brother and uncle. He loved antique tractors and owned at least 25 over the years.
The family would like to give a special thank you to Leo Bates for her compassionate care of Dad. Also they would like to thank The Cottage at Spring Arbor of Thomasville and Amedysis Hospice for their excellent care.
