John Howard McRae

John was born May 15, 1932, in Dalton City, Illinois. He was the son of John and Nellie (Nickens) McRae. He served in the United States Navy for 4 years and retired from Caterpillar Tractor Company in 1984. He was a 50+ year member of the Masonic Lodge. He married Barbara Sill in December 1955. John was a member of the Deep River Church of Christ in High Point, North Carolina. He was a die-hard Chicago Cubs fan.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Barbara McRae and son, Joseph McRae.

John is survived by his children, Debbie Sensing and husband Gary, John William and wife Carol, James McRae and wife Michelle, and daughter-in law, Luanne McRae. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

A service to celebrate John’s life will be held at 3:00 p.m., Monday, April 20, 2020, at Thomasville Funeral Home in Thomasville, North Carolina. A private burial will be held at the Mt. Zion Township Cemetery with military honors provided by the Macon County Naval Honor Guard team.
