Jim graduated from AC Flora High School in Columbia SC. Following High School, he enlisted in the Air Force during the Vietnam Era. Jim was stationed as a Weather Observer at Myrtle Beach during the 1973 snowstorm, which he helped to predict. He acquired an Electronics Degree after leaving the military. His career included time as a Bouncer, a Honda Mechanic, a Computer Salesman, a PC technician, a Network Engineer and finally a Computer Programmer. Jim eased into retirement starting three years ago while working for Easa Software.
Jim’s passion was music. His greatest joy was listening to the Kruger Brothers and playing in the band called the Acoustic Citizens. In his retirement, he loved to tinker. One of his favorite projects was a dog water sprinkler that our Lab could not destroy. Jim was a strong family man. He was an excellent husband, father and grandfather and a good friend to many.
His loving wife Wendy Walton, his children James Alexander Walton and wife Rebecca of Columbia SC, Erin Bodine and her husband Ryan of Pleasant Garden NC, one grandson Cooper Bodine, his brother Jeff Walton and wife Debbie Walton of Columbia SC., survive James. In addition to his parents, his sister June Walton preceded him in death.
There will not be a service or viewing, but there will be a Wake in his honor. Invitees will be contacted as to the time and place.
