David was born on April 30, 1949 in Boonville, Mississippi, a son to James Ray and Shirley Wade McCreary. He was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force and a hardworking man. For many years, David worked as an electrical engineer, retiring from American Electric Power. After his retirement, he worked at N.A.S.S. He was also an avid NASCAR fan, especially drivers Bill Elliott and Kasey Kahne. Most of all, he loved his family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brother, Michael Wade McCreary.
Surviving are his wife, Linda Dodd McCreary of the home; son, Jason McCreary and partner Brent Shreve of Weehawken, NJ; two daughters, Michelle Shores and husband James of Thomasville and Amber McCreary and significant other Justin Gooch of Clemmons; granddaughter, Shelby Elliott; grandson, Joshua Elliott; and sister, Mary Lou Lynch and husband Terry of Trenton, GA. Also surviving are his beloved dogs, Buddy, Louie, and Peanut,
A celebration of David’s life will be held at 2 pm Tuesday, February 27 in the chapel of Thomasville Funeral Home. A reception will be held at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
At David’s request, the family asks that all those in attendance dress comfortable and informal.
