Zola Mae Thompson, 83, of Magnolia, TX passed away on August 21, 2017. Zola was born in Houston, TX on April 17, 1934. She was married to Billy Jack Thompson on August 18, 1956; they just recently celebrated 61 years of marriage. When she was asked what was the secret to a happy marriage she said lots of hard work, find someone with a good heart and always fight for each other.
Zola was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother and her focus was always on her family. It could never be said that there was going to be a quiet time when she was around, she loved the art of conversation. Zola and Billy were fortunate to be able to retire early and pursue their love of crafting, do some traveling and hit the casinos, especially the slot machines, whenever she could. She was very talented and gifted in her arts and crafts and was an excellent seamstress.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Mamie and George Archie James and her siblings G. A. James, Jr., Preston James, Eleanor Wilson and Wanda Mills.
She is survived by her husband, Billy Thompson and 3 daughters; Sharon and husband Kent Turner, Linda and husband Jim Eaves and Renee and husband Mike Panatex. She has 9 grandchildren; James, Cory, Jake, Alyssa, Jessica, Michelle, Amanda, Carlos and youngest grandchild Rachel. As well as 5 great grandchildren; Arlo, Easton, Julia, Jaime and Marin. All of her grandchildren would agree that her legacy would be that she was the best grandmother.
Visitation will be at Forest Park Funeral Home, The Woodlands on September 1 , 2017 from 12:00-1:30 pm followed by funeral service at 1:30 pm.
