“I’ll stand with you, but I won’t lie for you and I’ll never lie to you!”
Billy was born William Roland McCarthy on September 20, 1947 in Austin Texas to Margaret and Gene McCarthy. He went to his reward on October 10, 2019. Billy grew up in Austin, Texas, attended Highland Park Elementary, Lamar Junior High—where he was a cheerleader—and McCallum High School. After high school, he went to Southwest Texas State University where he earned a degree in Business with a concentration in computer science. He served in the US Army and was stationed in Vietnam during the war. Upon returning to the states, he worked for Southern Pacific Railroad. He rose to the rank of terminal manager for the trucking division of Southern Pacific. A new world began when he moved to Spring and opened an Armstrong McCall franchise. He spent 30 plus years of beauty supplies and bridging relationships with thousands of beauty professionals. These clients became part of Bill and Carolyn’s extended family. Bill was a long-time bachelor until meeting the love of his life; Carolyn. They were married and he was “adopted” by Carolyn’s 3 daughters. But, his pride and joy was his grandson Tyler. Bill and Carolyn enjoyed 26+ loving years together. Through the years bill forged many friendships but none that lasted longer than the one with John McCall. They had been best friends since the 3rd grade… and until his last breath. Bill made and impact on so many lives. We are all so happy he is no longer in pain but so sad to lose such an amazing person.
He is preceded in death by his parents Gene and Maggie McCarthy and nephew Shawn McCarthy.
He is survived by his wife Carolyn; daughters Christi, Wendi and Andrea; and grandson Tyler; best friend John McCall (wife Amy); sister Kit Randall (Tommy) and brother Donny, many nephews & nieces and great nephews & nieces.
