William Clifford Lumpkin III, age 74, of Spring, Texas passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 21, 2021 due to complications from a stroke following open heart surgery. William was born March 21, 1947 in Anniston, Alabama. An eagle scout, William graduated in 1965 as valedictorian of his senior class at Randolph County High School in Wedowee, Alabama. In 1969, he also graduated as valedictorian from Georgia Tech University in Atlanta, Georgia with a bachelor of science in Industrial Engineering. William went on to work in engineering and management with Exxon Pipeline and Exxon Mobile for 45 years. Mr. Lumpkin was a proud Presbyterian. A church member of First Presbyterian of Kingwood in Kingwood, Texas, William attended church every Sunday even after moving to Spring, TX. He had a passion for fishing, college sports especially Georgia Tech and his siamese cat Tomas.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 43 years Christin Lumpkin of Spring, TX; his son William Christopher Lumpkin and wife Jessica of Houston, TX; his brother Tom Lumpkin and wife Diane of Rome, GA; niece Ellen Lumpkin Greer of Acworth, GA; nephew Thomas Jay Lumpkin of Chattanooga, TN. He was predeceased by his parents, Kathryn Jones Lumpkin and William Clifford Lumpkin Sr of Wedowee, AL.
A memorial service will be held at First Presbyterian Church of Kingwood in Kingwood, Texas on March 21, 2022. More information to follow soon.
William Lumpkin was an unforgettable person. He enjoyed spending time with his family and his menagerie of pets. He often regaled loved ones with humorous stories about his travels and interesting experiences. Mr. Lumpkin had a genuine heart full of kindness and went above and beyond for his beloved family. He will be greatly missed.
