Thomas “Tom” Edward Sawyer, Jr., age 40, of Spring, TX, passed away on June 29, 2019, after a brief battle with cancer. Tom was better known as “Tommy” until he graduated from high school. Since then, he has gone by the name “Tom” and more recently, a select few called him by his favorite name, “Uncle Tom”. Tom was born on August 15th, 1978, in Midland, TX, to father Thomas Edward Sawyer Sr., and mother, Debbie Sawyer. He was raised in Houston, TX, where he graduated from Eisenhower High School class of 1996. Afterward, Tom attended the University of Texas, Austin, where he studied Computer Science. Following his college attendance, Tom worked in a variety of career fields. He started in tech Support with AT&T, followed by a sales position with Aggreko that eventually moved him to Los Angeles, CA. He eventually matured into a position with Estes Forwarding Worldwide as a Station Supervisor in Houston, TX. Tom was an avid baseball, football and hockey fan. His steadfast loyalties to his teams were displayed through his Yankees and Bevo tattoos. Tom was a connoisseur of foods; his palate experienced a diverse range of flavors, among his favorites were Tex-Mex, Greek, Bar-b-que, and breakfast. Tom loved to watch movies and could quote quirky movie one-liners, such as “That rug really pulled the room together, did it not?”, at the drop of a hat. He loved to laugh and had the ability to effortlessly keep people laughing. Although Tom was just an ordinary guy, his ability to make friends was far from ordinary. Whether he met you in person or gaming online Tom made many lasting friendships in his life. Tom is survived by his mother, Debbie Sawyer of Spring, TX, father and his wife, Thomas and Amanda Sawyer of Hempstead, TX, Grandmother, Ruby Mitchell of Midland, TX, brother and sister-in-law, Jerrod and Tricia Sawyer along with two nieces and three nephews all of Leesville, LA, step-siblings Timothy and Shawn Willis and Robin Stiltner of Hempstead TX, his beloved dog Mugen of Spring, TX and a plethora of friends worldwide. Funeral arrangements will be held at 2:00 p.m. on July 8, 2019, at Forest Park Funeral Home and Cemetery in The Woodlands, TX.
