I remember when Gary moved to the Houston area in his junior year in high school from Beaumont. He was in my  Chemistry class and we became great friends.  He was kind, very personable and a lot of fun to be around.  

He dated and married Dana, one of my sister's best friends right out of high school.  Unfortunately, it didn't work out. 

I wished we would have kept in touch. However, life gets in the way and we get busy and don't reach out to old friends.

Gary will be missed. I will always think of his beautiful smile and  his upbeat personality.

Gary sat in front of me in homeroom. I remember he talked about flying all the time. It made me want to get into it. I never did, but every time I saw a small plane, I thought of Gary.  I wish I could have run into him after high school. He was one of my few friends in high school. Always happy and excited! Those that knew you will miss you Gary!

We liked reading the stories. Jason, a lovely request to do something nice for someone. Delana and I will be there Saturday and we will be casual, thanks for that!BTW, we will be flying down.  Look forward to seeing you and your family and my old best bud John. John and I speak several times a month. We have always kept up.  We always will. 

I am so sorry for your loss. I knew John and Gary's Dad well. I knew Gary well. Gary taught me quite a bit about flying. He helped me learn the practical side of flying after I soloed. I think he learned a lot of those techniques from Mr. Boyd. I still use many of those lessons learned today in my flying. I know they died doing what they loved. I am not sure that can be said about many people. 

Mr. Boyd was one of those solid as a rock people. I never saw him mad. When i think of him, I see him smiling. When I think of Gary, I think him with a look on his face like he knew something funny (and very dry)  to say and he was   thinking about maybe telling you. 

The Boyd family has been a part of our lives since we moved to The Woodlands in 1996.  John helped us secure and build our first and second homes here.  When we were ready for our third, little did I know Gary owned the lot I loved!  It was surreal to walk in to their model home and realize it was once again the Boyd family! Gary finished building our home in 2016.  He did an outstanding job and I wish I had told him how much I appreciated the work he did.  He never complained or seemed irritated; always a smile on his face and a great listener.  I always noticed how he brought John along with him.  Sometimes John would just sit in the car while Gary had his meetings but they were never without the other.  Gary took such good care of his dad getting him through everything from cataract surgery to hip fracture surgery during our time together.  I am at personal peace knowing they were together doing what they loved, flying airplanes, when they perished.  RIP John and Gary...I will miss you both!

Thank you to everyone for all of your kindness and warm regards during this time. I hope will join us Saturday July 28th 2018 at Forest Park Funeral Home in the Woodlands at 10:00am for the memorial service honoring the lives of John, Louise and Gary Boyd. This will be a very casual service. Please dress comfortably. It is too hot to be getting all dressed up. We are also asking that in lieu of flowers please preform a random act of kindness for a loved one or even a stranger and ask that person to pay it forward. 

I have the fondest memories of my Uncle John, Aunt Louise, Gary and John Russell. I always felt very grown up when I was with them. Uncle John had the softest and best laugh and Aunt Louise always had dessert to go with coffee. Gary was the big brother I never had and John Russell was one of the triplet cousins! Miss y’all much! 

This was a man who represented all that is good, pure and sound. A southern gentleman, an officer, a husband, father, son, grandfather and uncle. At a student gathering center, he spotted his beloved Louise and professed his intent to marry her at that very moment. He cherished her throughout their marriage, during her prolonged illness and after being separated by her physical death. They were an amazing partnership and spent their lives completely devoted to one another, their sons and grandsons. I never heard him utter a foul word. He was a gentle, nurturing soul with the ability to challenge the status quo and explore all realms of our existence. I will forever be grateful that he and Weezie came into my life. They always treated me like a daughter and provided me with support, guidance and their unconditional love. My children were so blessed to have them as grandparents. To quote my son Jason "Mom, I had him for my grandfather for forty years. How could you ask for anything more than that?" Pawpaw, I love you with all my heart. Please shower Weezie & Justin with hugs and kisses for me. I'm not going to miss our conversations, because I intend to check in from time to time until we meet again.
