Steven T. Lunsford

Steve was born in Portland, Oregon on December 15, 1950 to parents Rupert T. Lunsford and Fern Fox. Steve graduated from M. B. Smiley High School in Houston, Texas in 1970 where he was best known as Mr. Smiley!!

Steve was a 30-year law enforcement veteran who had a long and distinguished career of as a Deputy Sheriff for Harris County Sheriff's Office. He was an exceptional Deputy Sheriff who enjoyed serving his community and was respected and revered for his abilities.

Steve was passionate about his many interests including listening to smooth jazz, cheering on the Texas Longhorns, and practicing martial arts where he obtained a black belt. This true family man loved spending time with his children and grandchildren who were the lights of his life. Steve was also a longtime member of Lone Star Cowboy Church in Montgomery, Texas.

Steve is survived by his significant other, Sherry Owens; children, Carey Lunsford, Kimberly and Brian Bomnskie, Bryan Lunsford, Brian and April Dorman, Rebecca and Edward Martinez, Stephanie and Jeremy Whatley; grandchildren, Carl and Cody Baker, Kaeli Adams, Makayla Whatley, Madison Dorman, Owen Lunsford, Andrew Martinez, Branden and Zayden Lunsford, Alyssa Martinez, Makenzi Whatley, Olivia Lunsford, Brilynn Dorman, and Makenna Whatley; and brothers Kenneth Bartley, Dave Lunsford, and Jerry Lunsford.

He was preceded in death by his father, Rupert T. Lunsford; mother, Fern Fox; and brother, Darrell Lunsford; and Mary Miley.

Steve's devotion to family and his enduring example of courage and strength leave a lasting impact on his family, friends, and community. He will be forever loved and remembered by all who knew him.

A visitation for Steven will be held Thursday, November 21, 2024 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Forest Park The Woodlands Funeral Home & Cemetery, 18000 Interstate 45 S, The Woodlands, TX 77384. A funeral service will occur Friday, November 22, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM also at Forest Park The Woodlands Funeral Home.
