Stephen Earl Watkins, 62, of The Woodlands, Texas entered the Gates of Heaven on February 8, 2019 after a two year battle with ALS. Steve was a man of integrity, a devoted husband and father, grateful son and caring brother. Even though this horribly, cruel disease took so much away from him, he still had a smile on his face and his faith continued to be strong.
Steve was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma on June 18, 1956 to Casper and Juanita Watkins. He graduated from Central State University of Edmond, Oklahoma in May 1979 with a Bachelor of Science in Biology and a minor in Chemistry. Two days after he graduated from college, he married the love of his life, Becky. They would have celebrated 40 years of marriage this May. He was the proud father of his two sons, Blake and Chad. Steve started his career in the oil business with IMCO, a division of Halliburton, followed by Tetra Technologies, Global Completion Services, SPS and finally his own company, Watkins Oil Consulting. His passion for the oil business created many loyal friends along the way. He continued running his business up until he went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
His love for sports and the outdoors gave him the opportunity to coach years of baseball with Blake and Chad, attend countless OU football games, many rounds of golf with friends, lots of hunting and fishing, followed by peaceful days at the ranch.
Steve is survived by his wife Becky, his two sons Blake and Chad, his brother Mark Watkins and wife Carol, brother Jon Finley and wife Donna, sister Glenda Neher, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Steve was preceded in death by his father and mother Casper and Juanita Watkins, his sister Janice Mason and his nephew Wes Finley.
Although we are all devastated and will miss him immensely, we are thankful he is no longer suffering. He now has a new life eternal. He wanted us to make this a time of celebration because he is Home.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 14, 2019 from 5-8pm at Forest Park The Woodlands Funeral Home, 18000 I-45S, The Woodlands, TX 77384. A Celebration of Life service will be on Friday, February 15, 2019 at 2pm in the chapel at Forest Park The Woodlands Funeral Home.
